ABOUT THE PROJECT
Sharing the view from space to promote conservation for people and the planet.
SkyTruth is a non-profit that builds free, publicly available conservation technology using earth observation data to support the global environmental movement. We specialize in using satellite imagery, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and open data to make environmental problems visible, measurable and actionable. We partner with conservation organizations, journalists, and government actors to provide the evidence they need to advocate for stronger environmental outcomes. SkyTruth has developed the 30×30 Progress Tracker and Cerulean to support the environmental community:
30×30 Progress Tracker is a free, public, interactive tool that brings transparency and accountability to the world’s effort to protect 30% of lands and waters by 2030. It combines trusted data from sources like ProtectedPlanet, MPAtlas, and ProtectedSeas with intuitive mapping and planning tools designed for advocates, governments, researchers, and the public. Whether you’re tracking national progress, identifying conservation gaps, or building momentum for policy change, the 30×30 Platform makes conservation data visible, useful, and actionable.
Cerulean is a free, open-source platform that continuously detects marine oil slicks from vessels and offshore oil and gas platforms, exposing the most likely polluters. Launched in 2023, Cerulean is used by journalists and advocates around the world to investigate oil pollution at sea and hold polluters accountable. Our goal is to make the invisible impacts of commercial shipping and offshore oil production impossible to ignore.
