EFFECTIVE

EFFECTIVE is an ambitious EU-funded project supporting the EU Mission “Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030.” The project brings together 21 partners from 11 countries to develop an integrated, science-based approach for the restoration, conservation, and management of marine ecosystems.

EFFECTIVE aims to demonstrate, validate, and replicate nature-based solutions and digital tools that enhance the management and restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems. The project promotes science-based decision-making, stakeholder participation, and transboundary cooperation to improve the protection of biodiversity, carbon sequestration capacity, and coastal resilience. The project places strong emphasis on ecological connectivity, cross-border cooperation, and participatory governance. By applying an ecosystem-based management system (EBMS), the project aims to improve the effectiveness of marine spatial planning and MPA management, while addressing climate resilience, biodiversity loss, and socio-economic challenges.
